Perfecta is a Ph.D. candidate with the Goldman School of Public Policy. Her research focuses on the historical roots and modern manifestations of American racism, with particular interests in American policing. Prior to enrolling at GSPP, Perfecta was the executive director of Esperanza Housing and Economic Development, a community development organization serving low-income Latino residents in North Philadelphia. Pita has experience in community organizing including the development of grassroots community-police engagement practices. Perfecta holds an MSW and an MPA from the University of Pennsylvania, and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Niger, West Africa.
